Next Practice in System Leadership - What we're talking about |
What if ...The Innovation Community on talk2learn discussed the big questions in System Leadership, and the debate has been lively! Read a summary of the discussions. BloggingEach of our Field Trial sites has a blog, also within the Innovation Community. Here is a taster of what people are talking about: In the Hartlepool blog, Anthony Metcalfe has been writing about some of their community developments and asking for comments. "Yesterday I attended a community partnership meeting facilitated by the police to consider a joint approach to anti-social behaviour outside our local shop. The problem is caused by teenagers wanting to meet (and drink). Young males from outside the area seem to meet local girls. The flashpoint is Friday evening. Breffani and myself have been involved to date in establishing provision for the community in ''extended'' hours, The school has begun a ''Cool'' Project for 8-12s. The 12-15s are to be accommodated in a Cafe Clavering project involving a thorough refurbishment of the Church. Any thoughts?" Stevenage, W.Wilts and Haven NE Essex also trained together and have started blogging. In the Haven project, Mark Wilson is inviting readers to share thoughts on 14-19 collaboration in the blog. Perhaps colleagues with links to Cumbria could comment here?
"We need to plan strategically as a region working with our 14-19 planning group to allow us to maximise the employment opportunities for the students. Our project links the three schools in a collaborative college to meet these needs. It is an ambitious project with many obstacles to overcome but we believe that together we can create the provision to give our students the best chance and in the process bring the district's NEET figures down. Any ideas to help us are very welcome." In the Knowsley A blog, Elaine Ayre described the proposed new model of governance. Responses and comments would be welcome: "Our proposed new system of governance has three distinct layers - a strategic partnership including a wide range of partners who will be involved in formulating policies and providing strategic direction for the new system, federations of two or more learning centres and individual learning centre committees which involve pupils, parents and community members. The local authority whilst currently providing strategic leadership and direction in supporting the establishment of the new system will have a different role in the future. The new system will be self managing and self directing whilst the local authority will be a strategic commissioner of services with a responsibility for Quality Assurance."
