Next Practice in Resourcing Personalisation - Wildern School

EduTube

Wildern School wants to create its own secure version of YouTube, whereby students will learn to create and peer-review education resources in audio and video formats. This will be done via the school's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), initially for Wildern and its 8 feeder primaries. Within two years it could also include the 35 schools for which Wildern provides the VLE.

The key to personalising learning in this field trial is student involvement in actively creating and rating learning resources. Students will have access to specialised training in film making, and to the school curriculum. Student panels will be responsible for quality assuring the outputs. There will be a monthly focus on a particular category and an Oscar style ceremony with prizes for the best films. With the opening of a community cinema on the school site in March/April 2007, the films voted best in their category will be shown to the community before the start of the main feature film.
